Dear All, Two very brief notes today…
First, Pew Trusts continues to work to provide ways to understand the antibiotic pipeline. Building on their ongoing surveys (link), their latest contribution is a clever visualization tool that shows how antibiotics have moved forwards, backwards, and/or stopped during the period 2014-2018. Go here to see it in action and prepare to be mesmerized as you are shown how drugs drop away over time, leaving us with a dangerously low number of antibiotics in development (especially if you focus on drugs for Gram-negative bacteria). Nice work, Team Pew!
Second, FDA has recently released final guidance documents for uUTI, bacterial vaginosis, and vaginal candidiasis. Apologies, but I’ve only had time to scan them in brief and will note only that the uUTI document provides relatively detailed statistical guidance on trial design whereas the other two are less specific.
