Dear All:
As you will hopefully recall from November 2019, Theuretzbacher et al. published a review of the preclinical pipeline that summarized data on 407 companies active in the preclinical R&D space during the window Sep 2016 through 1 May 2019. WHO was pleased by the response to the first preclinical data call and notes that “in 2019 we received tremendous input to our WHO data call, with data on 252 unique antibacterial agents submitted by 145 institutions from across the world.” As an update to this initial effort, WHO have now announced their 2020 preclinical antibacterial pipeline data call.
WHO seek data from any R&D developer with an antibacterial product in preclinical development that targets the WHO priority pathogens list (go here for my master summary of the various priority pathogen lists), C. difficile, or M. tuberculosis. All modalities (small, large, microbiome, etc.) are welcomed as are both therapeutics and preventatives. Submitted data can be either for a new or updated entry.

This is an important endeavor as it will influence availability of funding: The 2020 update will feed into the WHO Global Health R&D Observatory and will be shared with multiple stakeholders including existing and future funders of antibacterial R&D.
